Let the adventures begin

Technically the “Adventures of Tangent Girl” actually began in the early 80s…. Although at that early age I was as yet unaware of the exact magnitute of my “superpower” to go off on tangents…

I guess it became most clear to me one night/ early morning at around 3am… I had awoken, couldn’t get back to sleep, so I began looking up some info on the web… Next thing I knew I was deconstructing and evaluating what would exactly would be considered a reasonable price for an ice cream van. When I realised that price was unrealistic; my brain considered it then logical to look at prices of only the Mr Whippy Ice Cream Machine. Standard me behaviour.

So after years of such misadventures, adventures and err… ventures in general… I have decided to take on the cathartic exercise of recording my musing on randomness and information in the world. Particularly the absurdity, wonder and confusion within it, seeking the help of professors in life experiences as I go. I’ve gathered quite the collective of connections with wonderful and interesting humans on my journey so far, and I hope that never ends. So welcome into my mind and eyes on the world – apologies in advance… but at the same time it’s your own fault if you keep reading….
Thank you kindly for visiting my site, I’m quite excited about the challenge of creating podcasts, and sharing my amateur take on art and information in the world…

One of the biggest risks we can take is in creating and sharing that creation, exposing our innner creative world to be looked at by others, but I intend to loose that fear along the way, to fully embrace the fun which I know I’ll have along the way.

Last but not least; a full hearted and grateful thank you to Stephen for supporting me in my creative vision through your expertise in web design, it means the world!

FYI / P.S:

By day/all hours, I work in the field of community mental health, and I have both lived and learned experience of the challenges of mental ill health myself. However; anything I say, write or draw presented on this website is completely and utterly my own opinion/ perspective/ viewpoint and unrelated to the organisation I work for, or any organisations I work in partnership with.

Why Podcasts…

When you have the attention span of a goldfish, swimming in a bowl of caffeine on a rollercoster… and you want to present a creative idea which is longer than the length of the average poem… you get ‘creative’ in your methodology 😉

Said goldfish is actually my scholarly distant cousin, and a veritable high achiever in terms of attention spans… and so through cathardic necessity; I’ve had to become even more creative in my artist delivery medium. I.e. I will see something sparkly while trying to write a novel or short story, leading to the work never being finished.

So I’m hoping the audio format will be a pill for that ill; and that I’ll somehow be able to at some stage actually finish a…

oooooh shiney thing…
